As well as looking after our own woodland, we undertake work in other people's woods - planting trees and hedges, thinning, coppicing, felling, fencing, erecting gates and stiles, constructing steps. We will visit and give advice on how your woodland might be managed. The sites we work in range from gardens and schools to large woodlands.
We are always looking for large trees to cut planks from, smaller trees for firewood and coppice thinnings for craft work, especially hazel. Sometimes we will buy material that needs to be extracted, which will reduce the cost of the work to the owner.
We have a tree nursery where we grow over 10,000 trees a year - mostly native hardwood trees using seed from selected local trees. Some of the trees are grown in open beds and some are grown in cells in a polytunnel. Cell-grown trees establish more quickly and have a longer planting season. We can supply trees, guards and canes if you want to plant the trees yourself.
We run courses in woodland and coppice management, tree planting and growing trees from seed - see the section on Coppice, Greenwood and Woodland Courses.
